Blastbeat Player
A Windows system tray player for Death.FM and SomaFM's Metal Detector, with no browser engine behind it.

What it does
- Plays Death.FM and Metal Detector natively through Windows' media stack, with failover across SomaFM's rotating servers and self-healing playback after a network drop, a stall or waking from sleep.
- Casts the current station to a Chromecast, using the custom receiver. Switching station while casting switches the receiver too.
- Likes, a local history of the last 500 tracks heard (locally or on a Chromecast) and, for Death.FM, a view of its real upcoming queue.
- Last.fm scrobbling, Discord Rich Presence, Windows media-flyout and media-key control, toast notifications and start with Windows.
- Three layouts, from a full player down to a one-line strip, in a custom-painted borderless window.
Under the hood
- C# on .NET 10 with Windows Forms and custom painting.
- Audio through the BASS library, with a Media Foundation engine behind the same interface.
- Chromecast through Sharpcaster; Windows media controls through the System Media Transport Controls.
- Replaced two earlier apps, a WebView2 wrapper and a SomaFM-only tray player, and imports their settings on first run.
Not code-signed, so Windows SmartScreen will warn on first run. Independent project, not affiliated with Death.FM or SomaFM.
